My interest in cars started at a young age. My first car was a 1962 Austin Healy 3000. It was a ‘cool’ car but it never ran well and was in constant need of ‘fixing’. Unlike my father, I was curious as to how car engines worked so I tried to ‘fix’ my Austin Healy but pretty quickly discovered that it was way beyond my then mediocre mechanical abilities. So I sold my Austin Healy and purchased a 1964 VW bug, (lime green w/black fenders…bug!), whose motor was MUCH easier to understand and fix! Thus began my fascination with cars. Over the years, I’ve owned many classic cars but my favorites have always been old Porsches including Porsche 911’s, 912’s, 924S, 944 Turbo and 968, all of which needed ‘fixing’ thus improving my mechanical skills over time (I could probably fix that Austin Healy now!).

Not surprisingly, while owning these cars, I became interested in car racing. For my 50th birthday in 2001, my mother-in-law (yes my mother-in-law!) gave me racing lessons as a gift. This started my passion for racing and I have been involved in racing cars ever since. I currently race a 1998 Porsche Boxster and just recently finished restoring a 1967 Porsche 912 which I took on to the racetrack for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. The garage at our house on Castilleja is ‘my space’ where I do all of the mechanical work on both cars. It’s where I can combine my love of ‘fixing’ cars with getting ready to race! So if you see the garage door open, I’m most likely in there tinkering away so please feel free to stop by and say ‘hi’!
